Who are narcissists? It is important for us to first understand who a narcissist is and how you can easily identify them from their behavior. You first need understand that a narcissist is suffering from a personality disorder. It is not a choice they make to be who they are. They need help to overcome the challenges that come with narcissistic personality disorder. Narcissists often have inflated opinion of their importance. They think that they are always right and will often demand that there ego is stroked to reaffirm what they already believe as true. Although narcissists will always seem to have extreme confidence I themselves, they are rather fragile. Narcissists do not handle criticism well. Any slight criticism often results in narcissistic abuse.

Narcissists not only abuse their partners, their behavior is also witnessed by those he works with. At work, a narcissist will always want to be appreciated for the work he does. Unfortunately there are always victims of narcissistic abuse everywhere. It could be a junior officer who will take the back lash for questioning a senior with a narcissistic personality. The end result is a dissatisfied employee which affects the productivity of the company. It is even worse if the narcissist is the employer because no one will fire him. The business will end up suffering because of the abuse inflicted on employees by the employer.

A narcissist never wants to be criticized or questioned. They will always want things done their way and their partner has no choice but to accept. Because they want to seem in control, narcissists tend to be extravagant and spend lavishly so that people can stroke their egos. Should the wife criticize this behavior, it is reason enough for the narcissist to lash out and begin with narcissistic abuse.

Breakdown of relationships

Narcissists rarely keep relationships with people who are prone to criticize them even if what they say it is true. Remember narcissists cannot control their feelings unless they seek medical help. To them, they will always be right and those doing the criticizing are always wrong. This means relationships and friendships with narcissists are short lived, unless of course if you offer them the praise they need to feel important. People with strong personalities and confidence in what they are saying will hardly ever give in to the demands of narcissist. The end result is people going their own way because a narcissist will also choose not to relate with people who critic their every move.
